Not sure how the locked groove will work in the digital realm but you crazy kids have been asking for it.

Looks like Christmas comes early for you Glossolalians in the NY area this weekend. We will be at the WFMU Record Fair, Sunday November 24, 2013, at Manhattan’s Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street in New York City. It’s the best record shopping weekend of the year! Expect solid deals and rare gems. Uncle John says “Get with it”.
That’s right, Houston terror-unit Rusted Shut will be heading over to Austin to join Vaz on this stop of the Visiting Hours tour. Unfortunately Shit & Shine and Sur, two pillars of the SGG community, are no longer able to play this night but the bill remains a stellar, if slightly terrifying one. Thanks to Coma In Algiers for filling the void.
On November 17, SGG post-industrial hermits Submissions come out of hiding to support Vaz on the LA stop of the Visiting Hours tour and play material from their forthcoming LP. Also on the bill, old pals Big Business..so you can expect this show to be a memorable(and crowded!) one. RSVP right here.
The new Vaz LP “Visiting Hours” is available in our store. Stay tuned for a release date on the upcoming Submissions LP and other news.
Vaz can also be caught the next day, November 18, at Vacation Vinyl for a special in-store.
Two nights in the Bay for Vaz, two ferocious bills. November 14 in SF with Burmese and November 15 in Oakland with The Body, Prizehog, and Pinky Swear. Psyched to bring together so many longtime SGG friends/cohorts for these very special shows. See you there!

The video for the title track off the new Vaz opus “Visiting Hours” debuted over at Noisey, which is apparently an interweb place cool people look for things that other cool people deem worthy of being cool. Thanks for spreading the good word, Noisey.
The clip was directed by our man Antony Milton(he of such esteemed NZ underground crucial-units as Mrtyu, Birdcatcher, Superbugger, AM, etc.) and serves the paranoia up properly cold.
Oh, and in other news of noteworthy praise, The New Yorker recently called Vaz a “heavy, prog-rocking band”. So, there’s that.
Check out “Visiting Hours” above. Pre-order the LP now in our store. Digital version forthcoming. Catch the band on tour NOW!
“Visiting Hours”, the newest long-player from Brooklyn’s Vaz for the SGG label, following 2011’s precedent-obliterating “Chartreuse Bull”, manages to at once capture the live ferocity of the band as well as highlight their use of the studio as another weapon in a formidable aural arsenal. Our use of alliteration here should illustrate that we mean business. In fact, it’s safe to say that the needle was buried so deep in the red that recording engineer Ben Greenberg(The Men, Hubble) still hasn’t managed to excavate it.
Vaz are touring for the entirety of November in support of “Visiting Hours”, making stops all across the U.S. and sharing bills with label-mates and old and new friends alike. It is advised that you attend these shows.
“Visiting Hours” will be in finer shops everywhere on November 12 and is available for early adopters now from the SGG store and from the band on tour.

First, come over and repair Mr. Mike’s VCR so he can watch Phantasm. THEN:
Listen to Diane Kamikaze’s show on WFMU from 12-3 to hear VAZ perform songs from their new LP “Visiting Hours” and likely speak unfathomable truths into the microphone. 91.1 on yr FM dial in the greater NYC area, WFMU.org worldwide.
Go see the finest(only?) Mummies cover band, comprised of humans from two particularly ominous SGG bands(OK, it’s Vaz & Hammerhead), over at Union Pool in Brooklyn. Video of “The Mummies” getting spooky at Zebulon last year below.
Finally, run over and catch our old friends The Body at Saint Vitus Bar.
There, now you don’t even have time to worry about razor blades in the candy bars.
Vaz are on first, supporting old friends Melt Banana and Brain Tentacles(feat. Dave Witte of Discordance Axis, Phantomsmasher, MB, etc), but are given top billing on this insane poster by Suny Gao because we’re so excited for what they’re doing. Vaz are on first! Get there early!
UPDATE: This show is sold out. We will soon announce a homecoming show for Vaz here in NYC with an equally impressive lineup when the tour wraps up. Keep yr eyes peeled.
(peep the nod to our Indonesian pals on this poster, look closely!)
SGG brings you another eclectic bill of rare occurrences. 9/19/13 at Cake Shop NYC. RSVP below.
SUR – Austin, TX coed power-trio specializing in what comes off as a Seth Brundle-ing of feral atmosphere and rhythmic thud-rock pummel on a molecular level.
Richard Papiercuts – Finely crafted dementia-boogie pumped forth by Chinese Restaurants, Ecce Homo, Pop.1280, Starling Quintet, etc members.
Dim Wist – Vaz guitarist and women’s college basketball assistant coach of the year Tyler Nolan’s masterful guitar excursions, channeling(to these ears at least) Astral Social Club, Sunroof!, Vibracathedral Orchestra, and various secrets of clandestine sport, past and present.
Platinum Vision – “Psych rock via Charles Mingus” sets the bar pretty damn high. Don’t be late.
Out September 14, in collaboration with the Mirror Universe cassette imprint, our first release with the excellent SUR from Austin, TX..catch them on tour in September(and here in NYC on 9/19 at Cake Shop with Dim Wist and Richard Papiercuts)!
