VAZ “Visiting Hours” Release Party/Homecoming show in Brooklyn

Because so many fine friends were unable to come out to the tour kickoff/record release with Melt Banana(due to it selling out in nanoseconds) we’ve added a homecoming show here in Brooklyn to officially celebrate the existence of Visiting Hours, the brand-new punishing platter from Vaz that has been peeling paint all over planet Earth since its recent release. How’s that for tasteful alliteration??

Joining Vaz on the bill are ORNAMENT, the solo project from long-time Vazociate Joe DeNardo of GROWING, as well as PC Worship.

RSVP here and don’t let the intimidating amount of dollar signs on the flyer fool you as we’re sure they’re for art’s sake and not indicative of the cost of this gig!

“Visiting Hours” is available physically here and digitally here.

Vaz “Visiting Hours” video premiers over at Noisey..

The video for the title track off the new Vaz opus “Visiting Hours” debuted over at Noisey, which is apparently an interweb place cool people look for things that other cool people deem worthy of being cool. Thanks for spreading the good word, Noisey.

The clip was directed by our man Antony Milton(he of such esteemed NZ underground crucial-units as Mrtyu, Birdcatcher, Superbugger, AM, etc.) and serves the paranoia up properly cold.

Oh, and in other news of noteworthy praise, The New Yorker recently called Vaz a “heavy, prog-rocking band”. So, there’s that.

Check out “Visiting Hours” above. Pre-order the LP now in our store. Digital version forthcoming. Catch the band on tour NOW!

Vaz “Visiting Hours” LP available for pre-order now, in stores November 12. Tour dates below..

“Visiting Hours”, the newest long-player from Brooklyn’s Vaz for the SGG label, following 2011’s precedent-obliterating “Chartreuse Bull”, manages to at once capture the live ferocity of the band as well as highlight their use of the studio as another weapon in a formidable aural arsenal. Our use of alliteration here should illustrate that we mean business. In fact, it’s safe to say that the needle was buried so deep in the red that recording engineer Ben Greenberg(The Men, Hubble) still hasn’t managed to excavate it.

Vaz are touring for the entirety of November in support of “Visiting Hours”, making stops all across the U.S. and sharing bills with label-mates and old and new friends alike. It is advised that you attend these shows.

“Visiting Hours” will be in finer shops everywhere on November 12 and is available for early adopters now from the SGG store and from the band on tour.VAZ VH_FRONT_small

Allow us to plan your Halloween….

(image stolen from John Microwaves, but where did he steal it from?)

First, come over and repair Mr. Mike’s VCR so he can watch Phantasm. THEN:

Listen to Diane Kamikaze’s show on WFMU from 12-3 to hear VAZ perform songs from their new LP “Visiting Hours” and likely speak unfathomable truths into the microphone. 91.1 on yr FM dial in the greater NYC area, WFMU.org worldwide.

Go see the finest(only?) Mummies cover band, comprised of humans from two particularly ominous SGG bands(OK, it’s Vaz & Hammerhead), over at Union Pool in Brooklyn. Video of “The Mummies” getting spooky at Zebulon last year below.

Finally, run over and catch our old friends The Body at Saint Vitus Bar.
There, now you don’t even have time to worry about razor blades in the candy bars.

Vaz “Visiting Hours” LP release party/tour kick-off!

Vaz are on first, supporting old friends Melt Banana and Brain Tentacles(feat. Dave Witte of Discordance Axis, Phantomsmasher, MB, etc), but are given top billing on this insane poster by Suny Gao because we’re so excited for what they’re doing. Vaz are on first! Get there early!

UPDATE: This show is sold out. We will soon announce a homecoming show for Vaz here in NYC with an equally impressive lineup when the tour wraps up. Keep yr eyes peeled.

SGG brings you another eclectic bill of rare occurrences. 9/19/13 at Cake Shop NYC. RSVP below.

SUR – Austin, TX coed power-trio specializing in what comes off as a Seth Brundle-ing of feral atmosphere and rhythmic thud-rock pummel on a molecular level.

Richard Papiercuts – Finely crafted dementia-boogie pumped forth by Chinese Restaurants, Ecce Homo, Pop.1280, Starling Quintet, etc members.

Dim Wist – Vaz guitarist and women’s college basketball assistant coach of the year Tyler Nolan’s masterful guitar excursions, channeling(to these ears at least) Astral Social Club, Sunroof!, Vibracathedral Orchestra, and various secrets of clandestine sport, past and present.

Platinum Vision – “Psych rock via Charles Mingus” sets the bar pretty damn high. Don’t be late.
